An aluminum alloy containing Mg2S silicides as its main additive is also referred to as Alloy 6061. Class 6000 alloys are highly workable, weldable, and machinable, which is why they are often used in the manufacture of bicycle frames. Thanks to their tensile strength and resulting workability, tubes made from this alloy are often used in hydroforming processing. The 6061 aluminum alloy reaches a tensile strength of 325 MPa and density of 2.70 g/cm3.
